Shereef was elected as a Lawyer of the Year for 2004 by the Michigan Lawyers Weekly, and also, nominated in top 5% of attorneys in the State of Michigan by Super Lawyers Magazine for years 2006, 2007 and 2008. Shereef obtained his bachelors degree from the University of Michigan in 1987. He graduated from Detroit College of Law in 1996 (which merged with Michigan State University). Now, Shereef specializes in civil rights, business litigation, and personal injury. Shereef, also, has a CPA, and a Masters in Business Administration from Wayne State University.

Shereef has been involved in several high profile discrimination cases. They include discrimination claims in places of public accommodation, excessive force claims, and employment discrimination claims. Shereef has, also, taken his work internationally where he recently filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of all of the Iraqi prisoners, who were tortured in Abu Gharib, and elsewhere.
