Employee rights under Michigan state law

The Workforce Opportunity Wage Act specifies what Michigan employers must pay their employees based on their age and status within a company. The act applies to any employer who has two or more employees who are 16 or older. Employees who are under the age of 16 are not subject to the guidelines of the act.

Supreme Court to hear pregnancy discrimination case

Michigan residents might be interested to learn about a workplace discrimination lawsuit that is getting a lot of attention. When a Maryland UPS employee became pregnant in 2006, she was forced to quit her job because her employer refused to offer her light duty work. The working mom's employment discrimination case is soon to be heard by the Supreme Court of the United States.
